Zina Dunn

Artist

I am an artist based in Brooklyn, New York, working with printmaking, sculpture, and drawing to create abstract yet thought provoking bodies of work. My practice is rooted in exploring materiality by using linoleum, wood, wire and found objects — such as toys and insulation — to push the boundaries of traditional mediums. I am drawn to experimenting and researching new dry mediums and alternative forms of art making to expand my understanding of the process and of myself.
My work is based on the themes of introspection, the symbolic use of hands in art, and the mind under the influence of psychedelics, including marijuana and mushrooms. By focusing on a limited color palette or materials in each piece, I aim to evoke a sense of loss, confusion, and search for meaning in a sometimes meaningless world. My work invites viewers to reflect, question, and converse about the complexities of the human mind and experience.
